{"id":26,"date":"2016-05-11T15:43:31","date_gmt":"2016-05-11T15:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.otr-tameside.org\/?page_id=26"},"modified":"2022-04-21T13:01:41","modified_gmt":"2022-04-21T13:01:41","slug":"what-does-the-counsellor-do","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.otr-tameside.org\/?page_id=26","title":{"rendered":"FAQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"maincol\">\n<div id=\"contentBoxDiv\">\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>What does the Counsellor Do?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The counsellor is there to listen to all kinds of things and won\u2019t judge you or tell other people unless you or someone else is in danger.\u00a0 They will try to understand you and will not tell you what to do.\u00a0\u00a0 Counselling is not advice.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span class=\"bold\">How often will I have an appointment?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Sessions are usually once a week at the same day\/time, but some people find one session is all they need to clear their thinking and decide what to do.\u00a0\u00a0 You and your counsellor will decide the number of sessions that are right for you.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span class=\"bold\">How long is a session?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Sessions usually last between 50 minutes and 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span class=\"bold\">What if I miss a session?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t worry if you can\u2019t make an appointment just let us know and we can re-book you.\u00a0\u00a0 However, you must not keep cancelling your appointments, as it is important for you that you see your counsellor on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"bold\">Is what I say confidential?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"maincol2\">\n<div id=\"contentBox2\">\n<p>Yes, we won\u2019t tell anyone what you say to us unless we think you or other people are in danger.\u00a0 We will tell you more about this when you come.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span class=\"bold\">Do I need to do anything before my first session?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Before your first session, you may find it will help if you think about how you want us to help you.\u00a0\u00a0 For example do you want to feel better about something in the past or do you want to make a change to your life now?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What does the Counsellor Do?
