Off The Record was founded in 1992 to meet the needs of young people by providing a high quality counselling service. Since then we’ve grown to incorporate training services and other projects targeted at young people. We believe that all young people have the right to free and accessible advice, information and counselling to help alleviate the burden of social, cultural and economic oppression.

We are striving to achieve this by maintaining an independent, free, confidential counselling service that is centrally based for all young people between the ages of 10 and 25 who live in Tameside and 13 to 25 in Oldham. As members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy we follow their code of ethics and practice for counsellors. All our counsellors are trained and will treat young people as individuals; respect their opinions and not judge them.

Please Note – Due to the change in Off The Record’s funding we have had to end our ‘open access’ counselling provision for young people.

We have taken the difficult decision to stop taking new referrals.  If you have an appointment or you are on the waiting list you should still receive a counselling service from Off The Record.

We will update all clients as and when we can return to normal.  There will be a new service in Tameside to provide support for young people. We apologise.
